Sponsorships

Merco has all of our fasteners packaged at a special needs workshop here in our home town of Wellsburg, WV. We recently sponsored a local event for the workshop and received this letter from the director in return.

Poker Runs

Merco has sponsored several poker runs all around our area to support several organizations. Every year we sponsor a poker run for the the Greater Weirton Senior Center to help the organization raise money to help fund events at the center for the elderly. The center has lunch, dinner, blood pressure screening, eye and ear exams, and programs for veterans. We have close ties with the center because one of the owners of Merco Marine is a retired director of the center. "Dear Merco, The Weirton Senior Center thanks you so much for your contribution for our annual 'bike' ride. The money certainly helps us stay in business."

Another poker run that we help sponsor is one to benefit the M.D.A., Muscular Dystrophy Association. We sponsor and participate in the event through Neidengards Harley Davidson of Wintersville, Ohio. In the past years Neidengards has stated that "we raised $30,606.99 net" "the largest group to donate that significant sum to MDA in our tri-state area." The event is held every year in June, there are always thousands of participants, and money is donated to the MDA every year. Anything that Floats Races

Merco has sponsored the Pittsburgh Technical Institute for years in the annual Pittsburgh Anything That Floats Race. We normally provide the flotation, they design and build the raft to compete in the race. The theme this year was meant to resemble a vehicle from the popular TV series, Star Trek. Past years have included a School Bus and Soda bottle themes. "We took 1^st place finish, A 1^st for us. Thanks again" (image shown left)

We also compete in our own local Wellsburg Anything That Floats Race held every year during the 4th of July Festivities on the Ohio River in Wellsburg, WV. This year our theme was the Loch Ness Monster, all participants wore Scottish kilts. We used smoke bombs and a old fashion fire truck alarm to confuse our competitors.  (image shown right) We took first place.

We have made it to Hollywood, and numorus times! Merco Marine supplied boat dock products to be used on movie sets for all of the following movies: Water World (1995), Snake Eyes (1998), McHale's Navy (1997), Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith (2005), Titanic (1997), and Flags of Our Fathers (2006). In some of the movies our docks can be seen in the movie itself. The docks were also used to provide a tressle system for the cameras to move on behind the scenes.
